titers ranged from 1:80 to 1:640. Each of these 20 lots also suppressed growth of EB3 cell cultures. Complement was not required for these reactions. There was good cor relation between the immunofluorescence and growth sup pression titers. Suppression of cellular growth was related to the extent of EB virus infection in 6 human lymphoma and leukemia cell culture lines tested. The globulins re sponsible for the growth suppression and immunofluores cence reactions were partially 2-mercaptoethanol sensi tive and were absorbed by EB3 cells but not by human amnion cells.
